I love to cook! There. I’ve said it. It is no longer my deep, dark secret. I.LOVE.TO.COOK! —Ok, so perhaps it was never actually a secret. —Ok, it’s always been public knowledge. All a person has to do is enter my home or take a peek at any of my online profiles to see that I love to cook, I love food, and what I love more than cooking and food is to share my love of cooking and food with everyone!
My life is not all about food. It’s really all about my family & friends, and keeping my “village” close to me. I firmly believe the old saying “It takes a village to raise a child”. Therefore, I live in the same small town I grew up in, just 3 blocks away from my childhood home. It’s good to be here, where help is always just a phone call away.
So, what do I do for my “village people”? I feed them! And in the process of feeding them the food that I cook, I think I have fed their souls, as well. It warms my heart to see the looks on the faces of my loved ones as they enjoy even my most simple offerings.
There is a friend that I share food with often. She and her family join us for dinners, weekend lunches, etc. We’ve added them to our family (they even receive the invite for our family only Birthday parties!). About a week ago, we invited them for an “end of the weekend” dinner. They told me a story while we were visiting that evening that really brought joy to my heart and soul. Their oldest child had apparently commented that if we needed any salsa to go with the chips that I could make some… because, as he put it so well “She can do things with food”.
